MUMBAI: Celebrating its 10th annual gathering of electronic media marketers, promotion executives and designers, Promax/BDA EMEA has organised two full days of speakers, thought-provoking seminars and awards competition for its 2006 European Conference.

The two days of activities begin at 9 am on 8 May in Vienna, Austria and culminate with 9 May's Promax/BDA Europe Awards ceremony.

Among the program highlights for the Vienna gathering are a presentation from digital artist and marketing wizard Ze Frank. Called "the Andy Warhol of our generation" and "the century’s first Pop digital artist” by MIT media guru John Meada, Frank's personal website, zefrank.com, was listed in Time Magazine’s Top 50 Websites of 2005, and is currently visited by over 750,000 people a month.

Promax/BDA EMEA senior vice president and managing director Carmen Alzner said, "For the past nine years, our members from around the world have come together in the capitals for Europe to share ideas and learn from each other. To celebrate our 10th anniversary of gatherings in Vienna, a hallmark for the organization as well as its members, we have planned two days of stimulating discussions and debates that will both challenge and inspire as well as demonstrate the invaluable contributions of our membership in advancing the reach and influence of electronic media."

"As creators we can’t rely on past formulations about the market to deal with the future A cellphone is not a small TV, a blog is not a newspaper. The basic kernel of media creation has become so tied to the device or platform it is intended to be consumed on but as each new space emerges, opportunities emerge with it. Gurus do not define these opportunities; consumers do by the way they behave. We don’t teach them - they teach us," said Frank.

Using a mixture of personal stories, real world examples and speculation in a fast-paced and humorous way, Frank will look at ways of thinking about creative development that allow for the unpredictable future.
