R V Rajan re-elected as president of RMAAI

BANGALORE: Anugrah Madison chairman and managing director RV Rajan has been re-elected as the president of the Rural Marketing Agencies Association of India (RMAAI).

Other office bearers elected includes MART's Pradeep Kashyap as vice president, Khurram Askari of Insight Connect as secretary and R Parthasarathy of Kripa Outdoor as treasurer.

The following were elected to the managing committee: R A Patankar – Sampark, Pradeep Lokhande – Rural Relations, Sunil Khairnar – India Agribusiness, K Ananthakrishnan – R K Swamy Social, Anurag Gupta – Ogilvy Outreach, Sandip Bansal – Expanse, Sanjay Kaul – Impact Communication.

Commenting on his re-election, Rajan said, "Following the successful conduct of the seminar on Rural Insurance held at Hyderabad, the Association plans to have a series of industry focused seminars. The next one will be Rural Banking to be held in September in Mumbai followed by Rural IT, Rural Telecommunication etc."

Other plans of the Association include an industry study to find out the importance given to rural marketing efforts by the corporate sector; offering courses in rural marketing to management institutes. The Association successfully conducted a course in S P Jain Institute of Management, Mumbai recently in which the Association provided the complete content and the faculty and also evaluated the students on a turnkey basis.

On the anvil from RMAAI is a quarterly journal on rural marketing, which will provide information on all aspects of rural marketing through news clips, case studies, interviews with stalwarts, feature articles etc. The first issue is expected to be released next month.

Another ambitious project of the Association is to conduct a 'Rural Marketing Works' seminar based on a contest on rural marketing case studies. This is scheduled to be held in September.
