MUMBAI: As the sun sets on the 2006 Cannes International Advertising Festival, BBDO Worldwide was named the most awarded agency network, with a total of 41 Lions including the coveted Film Grand Prix.

The Film Grand Prix was awarded to AMV BBDO, London for Guinness in the alcoholic drinks sub-category. BBDO captured Lions in major categories including film, press, outdoor, radio, cyber, direct, media and promotion.

In all, 20 different BBDO agencies were awarded, led by AMV BBDO, which was named the runner-up "Advertising Agency of the Year", informs an official release.

Indian agencies however, did not feature among the winners in the both the Film and Titanium Lions categories. In total, the Indians have pocketed 12 awards in the press, outdoor, promo, direct and media categories. The agencies that featured among the winners include JWT, Leo Burnett, Madison Communications, O&M, Rediffusion DY&R and Everest Brand Solutions.

On a positive note, the awards taken home by Indians is more symbolic of their positioning among world players in the industry and speaks volumes for the work presented this year at Cannes.
