MUMBAI: The world's most valuable media company Google with a market capitalisation of over $100 billion has started to offer premium videos for free on its video service.

However these videos come with ads.

Media reports indicate that the videos, include episodes of The Charlie Rose Show and films like Billy the Kid. Users will see a bar at the top of the video screen - present during the entire clip - that displays the sponsor's logo, a link to its web site, and a link to its commercial. The commercial plays automatically at the end of the video.

In a statement Google says, "By placing these user-initiated ads at the end of the videos...we are able to offer select premium content free of charge to all users. This is currently a limited test only, with a small number of advertisers and publishers (video content providers) participating. User-generated video content will continue to be free of charge and ad-free."

Reports further state that the ads and the videos will not be matched at random. Instead, advertisers will choose the videos they want to sponsor. In this manner, advertisers will avoid having their brand associated with a video they do not like.
