Sanyo BPL announces three-year plan for India

MUMBAI: Sanyo BPL Private Ltd., the recently formed JV between Sanyo Electric Co. Ltd., Japan and BPL Ltd., India announced their plans for India for the next three years. The products will cover categories such as CTVs, refrigerators, washing machines, audio and microwaves.

 
 

States Sanyo BPL chairman & CEO Ajit G. Nambiar, "We are also strengthening our distribution network with which we are confident of achieving a 16 per cent market share over the next three years in the highly competitive CTV category and 18 per cent in the fully automatic washing machine category."

Keiji Oshima, president and COO of Sanyo BPL said, "We are excited to be in India and are totally committed to growing the Indian market. We are bringing the best on offer from Sanyo, which reflects the importance of this market. It gives me great pleasure to announce that the Sanyo 21" slim TV, featured here, was launched globally at the same as in India. This incorporates the slim tube technology, which is the latest in the market. Our engineers have gone a step further with a design that is among the best in the market."

 
 

Sanyo BPL will also launch their range of digital cameras in India shortly. For the year 2008-09, the company targets a market share of 16 per cent for colour television, 12 per cent and eight per cent for the frost free and direct cool refrigerator segment respectively, in the automatic and semi automatic washing machines, 18 per cent and 10 per cent respectively and a 15 percent share of the microwave oven market.

 
 

Sanyo BPL marketing head V.G. Rajagopalan highlights the advantage a dual brand strategy provides to the company. "We are present at every critical price point with the appropriate product offering. Our visual display lineup features some of the best looking models in the market; innovations that conserve detergent and water set our washing machines ahead of competition and our refrigerators use energy efficient compressors and fresh food technologies. With these products in our portfolio we are confident of creating a distinct image for Sanyo products and are confident of achieving the following market shares."
