MUMBAI: With one of its biggest properties Kaun Banega Crorepati set to kick off next year, Star Plus has locked in 10 sponsors.

They include Airtel which is the telecom partner, Hyundai, UTI, Ujala, Royal Challenge, Good Knight and Cadbury Bytes.

Sources say Star has roped in Royal Challenge for around Rs 80 million. The other deals are done in the 70-100 million range. The deal with Airtel is separate. Shah Rukh Khan is playing the anchor in KBC-3, replacing Amitabh Bachchan.

While not commenting on numbers Star India president, ad sales & distribution, Paritosh Joshi says that there has not been any discounting compared to last time. He adds that despite the cricket World Cup, advertisers have shown interest in the property. He also says that Airtel has worked out a separate package.

In terms of the format Joshi says that for the show the background this time will be dark purple instead of blue. As had been reported earlier by Indiantelevision.com, Star has started to air teaser promos across its network.

Star is also looking at licensing and merchandising arena opportunities for this show. The first step was to sign on sponsors which has been done, Joshi says.
