MUMBAI: Nike India has launched a range of compression-fit first layer products Nike Pro, to cater to the performance needs of athletes and designed to be worn under uniforms and equipment for both team and individual sports.

"As athletes in India evolve, they look to technology and innovation in their apparel to give them an advantage in both - physical achievement and mental capability. The concept of high-technology base layers to aid performance in competition and training is catching on with athletes. With the launch of Nike Pro, Nike aims to give athletes that edge through the technological capabilities of premium athletic apparel", says Nike India marketing director Sanjay Gangopadhyay.

"Keeps my muscles in place and avoids unnecessary movement, thereby reducing muscle tear and fatigue. I feel good about my physique when I wear Nike Pro under my Game Day jersey. It also keeps the Game Day jersey from sticking to my body when am sweating excessively. Also extremely effective for cooling during matches, as Pro behaves like a second skin and the outer layer doesn't stick, thereby creating a layer of cool air between Pro and the Jersey", says fast bowler and Nike athlete - Sreesanth.

The benefits that the company has highlighted include the NikeFIT Dry fabric from which it is made, which wicks sweat through the material and away from the skin to keep athletes drier. This moisture management reduces the weight of the garment and ensures the athlete stays as dry as possible and comfortable for longer. Nike Pro is engineered with ultra-sheer, stretch mesh ventilation panels across the back, along the spine, and beneath the arms to help keep core body temperature down and increase comfortable performance time. Nike Pro apparel uses a soft-handle polyester with a tubular construction and flat seams to help increase player comfort and prevent chafing, adds the release.


Nike Pro - Vent and Basic, is available in select Nike stores across the country. This product is priced between Rs. 1095 and Rs. 2295.
