MUMBAI: Clothing Manufacturers' Association of India (CMAI), in association with Killer Jeans and Zoom, honoured members of the fashion, and apparel industry, both in the export and retail sector at the Max Style CMAI Apex Awards.

The Jury made their selections based on documented and personal presentations made by the nominees and handed them over to the auditors.

This year, in an initiative to glamourise the awards, CMAI has included five special awards to recognise the style icons from the television, ramp and Page 3 circuit.

The Leela Palaces and Resorts chairman Captain C P Krishnan Nair was honoured with CMAI Lifetime Achievement Award for his pioneering efforts in the handloom sector by championing the cause of handloom weavers that has set far reaching industry standards in the textile sector today, asserts an official release.

Commenting on the association with CMAI's Apex Awards Zoom business head M K Anand said, "As our tag-line says 'Isko Dekho', its not just about telling people to look and learn but also emulate what they see. Associating Zoom, India's foremost Glamour and Entertainment news destination with CMAI, the premier awards of the Indian apparel industry establishes Zoom at par with the trade business of fashion and lifestyle."

CMAI vice president Rahul Mehta added, "Behind the tough and serious business of garment manufacturing at CMAI, we sell dreams, aspirations, fashion and lifestyle by understanding the psychological interpretations of the consumers. That's exactly the essence of Zoom as a channel and hence a perfect platform to showcase CMAI's APEX awards."

The jury members from the industry included: Shoppers Stop CEO Govind Srikhande, Steve and Barry MD Avi Sonepal, Pantaloon Retail director Anil Biyani, Globus CEO Vinay Nadkarni, celebrity fashion designers Narendra Kumar Ahmed, Neeta Lulla and Shane and Falguni Peacock, Bennett Coleman and Co. executive president Bhaskar Das, Provogue consultant Tim Eynon, Westside VP U.M.Lad, Benzer director Hemang Savla, Raymond Samar Roy Sharma, Roopam MD Viren Shah, FDCI advisor Krishna Sahai, Madison Public Relations CEO Veena Gidwani and Avenues Advertising MD Gautam Rakshit.

The star-studded event was hosted by the Zoom anchor Supreet Bedi. Besides style icons like Mandira Bedi, Rohit Roy, Aanchal Kumar, Muzzamil Ibrahim and Queenie Dhody being recognised for their trend-setting style statements at the event, renowned choreographer Achla Sachdev, Zoom anchor Samir Kocchar, television actress Mansi Joshi, fashion designer Krishna Mehta, actress Kunika Lal and theatre personality Bhavna Balsaver were amongst the others who attended the occasion.

The evening saw choreographer Hanif Hilal walk down the ramp showcasing Killer's winter collection and performances by Raageshwari and Parmita Katkar.
