India Brand Summit takes place next month

MUMBAI: What makes a Great Brand...? And why are there so few great Indian brands...? How do Indian brands compete with global brands? How do you customise a global brand for the Indian market?

These are the questions that India Brand Summit 2006 seeks to answer. The event takes place from 22-23 September in Mumbai.

The summit would focus on the theme Real Brands Real Marketers, Real Solutions and the sub theme Translating Business Strategies into Brand Values. The India Brand Summit will be chaired by Star CEO Sameer Nair along with an Advisory Council.

The advisory council comprises of professionals from corporations who guide the strategic intent of the summit.

One session is called The Elephant Can Dance - Why Brand India is suddenly cool. The speakers include Hindustan Times chief editor Vir Sanghvi, Aviva Life Insurance director marketing, Vivek Khanna, ICICI Bank joint MD Lalita D.Gupte and Mahindra & Mahindra MD and vice chairman Anand Mahindra.

The session on Blink- The Power of Intuition in Advertising will be chaired by Preeti Vyas Giannetti. The speakers include Lowe executive creative director Priti Nair, MediaCom India president Jasmin Sohrabji. Contract Advertising chief creative officer Ravi Deshpande, Leo Burnett national creative director KV Shridhar and Radio Mirchi MD A P Parigi.

Another session looks at the return of the dotcom. The session is called The End of Business as Usual - The Return of the Dotcoms. Reliance Entertainment president Rajesh Sawhney chairs the session. the speakers are Sun Microsystems director marketing KP Unnikrishnan, Computer Associates Director Marketing, India and Saarc, Sunanda Ambardar Chak, Hungama.com CEO Neeraj Roy, Yahoo! India MD George Zacharias, Star India Executive VP marketing Ajay Vidyasagar, and Google director, online sales and operations Roy Gilbert.

There will also be a session on strategies one should follow while marketing to women. The session is called All About Eve - Communicating & Selling to Women. The speakers are Mattel Toys India, VP- marketing, Nanette Dsa, SPA Agencies (India) CEO Angelique O'Brien, Spatial Access managing partner Meenakshi Madvani, Godfrey Phillips India senior VP marketing Nita Kapoor and Worldwide Media CEO Devashish Sarkar.

A key area in marketing is using celebrities as brand endorsers, but how effective is it? Sameer Nair chairs a session on Show Me the Money - How Effective are Celebrity Endorsers? The speakers are McCann - Erickson (India) regional creative director Prasoon Joshi, Iconix MD Harish Krishnamachar, Hungama TV CEO Zarina Mehta, Emami Group dierctor Aditya Aggarwal, Starcomm Media West CEO Ravi Kiran, PDM International MD and CEO Sanjay Lal and Nobby Brand Architects founder Nabankur Gupta.

Another session looks at The Power Of Television: Television Advertising Helps Build Robust Brands. The speakers are Lintas Media Group media director Lynn De Souza, Group M MD CVL Srinivas, Leo Burnett India CEO and chairman Arvind Sharma, Tam CEO L V Krishnan and Mindshare MD Vikram Sakhuja.
