officials pulled up for contempt of court

BANGALORE: The Supreme Court (SC) has pulled up Kerala
officials for remarks and taking action against on-line and paper
lotteries in the state while the matter has been pending before the
court and hence sub-judice.
The chief secretary Babu Jacob, and three senior officials
-secretary (Taxes), director general of police and the lotteries director
are the officials who have been pulled up by the court and the chief
secretary has been asked to present himself before the court on 17
January, whilst the other three have been exempted from a personal
appearance before the court.
The on-line lottery operators had obtained a stay
from the SC against a High Court Order banning the sale of other state
lotteries in Kerala.
Playwin, one of the largest online lotteries in the
country, belongs to the Zee group.
