Sunil Alagh takes over as AIMA president

MUMBAI: The All India Management Association (AIMA) recently elected its new team of office bearers. The new team includes SKA Advisors chairman and ex- MD Britannia Sunil Alagh as president, SICPA India Ltd vice chairman Sudhir Jalan as senior vice president, ONGC chairman Subir Raha as vice president and Galaxy Venture Pvt. Ltd. managing director P K Gupta as Treasurer.
 
 

Alagh takes over the AIMA Presidency from Tata Sons Ltd executive director R Gopalakrishnan.

This year’s team of office bearers, internally known as the Committee of Office Bearers (COB) has Subir Raha as the new entrant. The other members have been a part of the COB under Gopalakrishnan’s Presidency.

 
 
AIMA last year launched many new initiatives besides carrying on with its regular activities viz. Management Development Programmes, National Management Convention, Advanced Management Programme with faculty from Harvard, National Competitions and Events, Testing Services and Management Education through distance learning mode, informed an official release. AIMA, today has 35,000 members and 63 Local Management Associations (LMA).
 
 
AIMA also adopted a new and contemporary logo which was launched in August.

Another major initiative taken by COB last year was to spread the national management movement to the young minds of the country. AIMA launched its Shaping Young Minds programme which gave a platform to the young managers and management students to interact with icons like Azim Premji, Suresh Prabhu, Piyush Pandey, Narayan Karthikeyan, Kiran Majumdar, Prabhu Chawla, Arun Nanda, Prasoon Joshi, Adi Godrej , B Muthuraman etc and learn from their experiences. The programme was successfully conducted in four locations viz Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Indore.

With a strong presence in management development, management testing and distance management education AIMA today has its network spread all over the country through its LMAs and more than 40 Nodal Centres which are nodal points where management education is imparted to about 3000 management students.

AIMA has close collaborations with Management Associations in many Asian Countries which fall under the umbrella of Asian Association of Management Organisations (AAMO). AIMA has recently taken over the Presidency of AAMO for three years with Tata Sons director Dr J J Irani as the president.
