While announcing the new initiatives, Bericap technical director Christian Krautkramer said, "We see tremendous opportunity in the Indian market for quality and technologically superior closures which benefit both manufacturers and ultimately the consumers."

Beri-Essel started operations in 2001 at Murbad, near Mumbai, with a linerless single piece closure for Carbonated Beverages. This closure which has a Bericap patent, uses the ‘DOUBLE SEAL’ technology and thus, ensures superior sealing and carbonation retention performance. In the last two years, this closure has found acceptance with several customers both within and outside India.

As part of the strategy to strengthen its presence in India, several new initiatives have been taken. These include:

1) The introduction of a lightweight cap-to-cap closure using a snap on neck design.
2) The introduction of a high quality spout closure, which ensures a 100 per cent tamper proof arrangement in addition to significant ease in pouring and use, while ensuring a smooth pull-push on the spout for Tin and Metal containers.
3 A lighter weight variant of the Double Seal closure, which works well for juices, filled at mid level temperatures and which offers a very good performance in terms of tamper evidence features as well as exceptional sealing performance.

In addition to this investment, several other developments from the Bericap stable are being aggressively marketed. Some of the key sectors targeted by Beri-Essel are: Beer, water, agro chemicals and automobile fluids.
