Barista, Close Up tie up for special promo with Shaan

MUMBAI: 'Kya aap Barista jaate hain?' No... you are not reading it wrong. Wondering what Barista's name is doing in the Close Up ad jingle? With innovative marketing strategies, nothing is really far fetched.

Close Up toothpaste and coffee major Barista have hitched up to give the chance of a lifetime for participants to take part in the "Jiyo Shaan se" competition.

 
 

The winner of the competition will get an opportunity to feature in singer Shaan's latest music video.Four other lucky winners will also get a laptop each.

All one has to do is walk into the nearest Barista and run a minimum bill of Rs 110 and answer a simple question, 'Kya Aap Close Up Karte Hain?' This will entitle a person to win a free cassette of Shaan's greatest hits, titled Shaan Se.

Titled, 'Kya Aap Close up Karte Hain?', this promotion will run across all Barista Espresso Bars covering 12 cities - Mumbai, Delhi and NCR, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Jaipur, Kanpur, Pune and Ahmedabad from 9 February to 9 March.

Aimed at generating a high level of enthusiasm and participation amongst youth, as a part of this promotion, Shaan will be present at selected Barista Espresso Bars in New Delhi and Mumbai throughout the month.

Barista Coffee Company head marketing and strategy, Brotin Banerjee spoke about this innovative promotion saying, "Barista is a place which not only offers a person with an exquisite experience but also an atmosphere to relax, enjoy and cherish the 'Joy of Coffee'. To take this Barista coffee experience to another plane, we at Barista continuously cultivate interests such as music, books and art that complement coffee. And this promotion with Shaan corroborates our views." He further added, "Besides, providing incentives for existing and new consumers, this unique promotion will result in higher levels of excitement amongst our customers."

Commenting on the 'Kya Aap Close up Karte Hai?' contest, Hindustan Lever Limited Oral Care marketing manager Debjit Rudra said, "Close up has always enjoyed tremendous loyalty with the youth. This contest is one more opportunity for us to connect with GenNext and further strengthen this relationship. The Kya Aap Close up Karte Hai?' provides the youth a platform to get close up with one of their favourite singers and an opportunity for instant fame."

Speaking at the Barista and Close Up's Kya Aap Close up Karte Hai? contest, Shaan said, "I am glad to interact with my fans at a coffee shop in a chilled out atmosphere. Also with the launch of my new album Aksar, I am excited and would like to get a feedback from them."

EMI - Virgin head marketing and A&R Shamir Tandon said, "Whenever we launch a new album of an artist, we like to take the artist and have him informally perform in front of his core TG. This gives us a real feel of what kind of music the youth of our country like and whether we have lived up to it in our latest venture."
