The
brand, of which Mandira has been appointed the new ambassador, will
be the title and team sponsors for the Indians. Mandira was honoured
with this distinction as she embodies the various aspects of the Asmi
diamond, where the Asmi woman is one with an inner fire and seeks
to achieve excellence in all that she undertakes.
The forthcoming women cricket series between India and West Indies
will begin from 26 February to 12 March and will be titled as 'Asmi
Cup'. The 'Asmi Cup' will be played at Calcutta, Gurgaon, Dhanbad,
Lucknow and Jamshedpur.
Speaking
to indiantelevision.com, Mandira said, "Yes, I helped
to get the sponsor. Since some time, I was in contact with corporate
houses and public sector banks for sponsoring of eves' cricket.
We had a few meetings and plans were afoot for encouraging the sport.
Some officials of women's cricket body and I were regularly interacting
with the proposed sponsors".
On becoming the Asmi Woman of the Year, Mandira said, "It
gives me immense pleasure and satisfaction to accept this honourable
role. Infact, Asmi brand values are significant because it closely
reflects my personality and what I am. As a woman, I am eternally
conscious of my strengths, potential and independence and that a
woman is equally capable and deserves all that is due to her."
