Mandira Bedi is 'Asmi Woman of the Year'

MUMBAI: The Extraaa Innings hottie Mandira Bedi has been chosen as 'Asmi Woman of the Year' by the diamond trading company. The distinguished actress has lined up a title sponsor, Asmi for a one-day series between Indian women and their counterparts from West Indies. This year, Mandira will be a significant part of all the marketing and promotional activities for the Asmi brand.
 
 
The brand, of which Mandira has been appointed the new ambassador, will be the title and team sponsors for the Indians. Mandira was honoured with this distinction as she embodies the various aspects of the Asmi diamond, where the Asmi woman is one with an inner fire and seeks to achieve excellence in all that she undertakes.

The forthcoming women cricket series between India and West Indies will begin from 26 February to 12 March and will be titled as 'Asmi Cup'. The 'Asmi Cup' will be played at Calcutta, Gurgaon, Dhanbad, Lucknow and Jamshedpur.

Speaking to indiantelevision.com, Mandira said, "Yes, I helped to get the sponsor. Since some time, I was in contact with corporate houses and public sector banks for sponsoring of eves' cricket. We had a few meetings and plans were afoot for encouraging the sport. Some officials of women's cricket body and I were regularly interacting with the proposed sponsors".

On becoming the Asmi Woman of the Year, Mandira said, "It gives me immense pleasure and satisfaction to accept this honourable role. Infact, Asmi brand values are significant because it closely reflects my personality and what I am. As a woman, I am eternally conscious of my strengths, potential and independence and that a woman is equally capable and deserves all that is due to her."
