Raju Pulugurtha is New Skies South Asia sales director

MUMBAI: Global satellite communications company New Skies Satellites has named Raju Pulugurtha as the director of sales for South Asia.

Pulugurtha will manage the company's sales and marketing activities throughout India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives and Afghanistan.

 
 
New Skies sales VP for India, the Middle East and Africa, Srini Prasanna was quoted in an official release saying, "New Skies enjoys a solid share of the fixed satellite services market in the Indian subcontinent. This has been gained through years of close collaboration with customers and the commitment of powerful and highly advanced satellite resources.

"We are delighted to welcome Raju to the New Skies team. He is an experienced sales executive and brings with him excellent contacts and customer relationships throughout the region.

"Raju's expertise and experience in these markets will ensure New Skies maintains a strong presence by promoting the strengths and advantages of our global communications infrastructure for the delivery of video, Internet, and data and voice services worldwide."

The release adds that before joining New Skies, Pulugurtha worked at Intelsat in Washington DC for 10 years as the regional director of sales, South Asia. During his tenure at Intelsat, he worked in India heading up the regional support center in Chennai. Pulugurtha has also worked at India's department of telecommunications for a decade.

He was involved in setting up satellite earth stations in Mumbai and Chennai. He was also involved in the development of VSat technology at the Center for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) in Bangalore.

New Skies satellites claims to be one of only four fixed satellite communications companies with truly global satellite coverage. It offers video, data, voice and Internet communications services to a range of telecommunications carriers, broadcasters, large corporations and Internet service providers around the world. New Skies claims to have five satellites in orbit and ground facilities around the world.

The company is in the process of constructing an additional spacecraft. The company also has secured certain rights to make use of additional orbital positions for future growth.
