The mandate from Hugo Boss, which opened its first exclusive Boss
shop in India in June this year, includes work on “media strategy,
buying and implementation”. Confirming the development, a Starcom
spokesperson said that the account was allotted “on the basis of
credentials and strong recommendation from one of its current clients.”
“The brief is to make sure that the brand gets high TOM awareness
amongst relevant audience through right mix of media vehicles. The
campaign will be largely print-oriented, which will be a mix of
full-page and half-page sized advertisements,” added the source.
The size of the account was not disclosed.
Hugo Boss has already released internationally-created print advertisement
after foraying into the Indian market last month. The first outlet,
opened at The Oberoi Hotel in New Delhi, will showcase the Boss
Hugo Boss menswear collection for Spring/Summer 2003. Designed for
the successful, cosmopolitan man, the season's collection features
classic and trendy suits, knitwear and polo shirts, leisure wear
and jeans, along with accessories.
For Starcom, which had consolidated its operations with the appointment
of Anita Nayyar as executive director (North) earlier this year,
the Hugo Boss win follows the recent acquisitions including Jindal
Photo Films AOR and Honda.
