| Inter
News representative receives the SuperPitch Award |
For the award, Inter News and five other finalists from Hong Kong,
Singapore and India had pitched their programming ideas to a panel
of commissioning editors from across the region in the Asia Media
Festival, Singapore, last week.
According to a company release, the SuperPitch contests are designed
to be as much entertainment as an opportunity for producers to present
their ideas to the relevant people to get their shows made.
Wandering Fables is produced by Asoka Raina and directed
by Arun Kumar T R.
The release quotes Kumar as saying, "We are delighted to join
the SuperPitch competition. It provided us with an opportunity to
exchange ideas with so many participants who have created such great
ideas."
Most people believe that fables traveled from the West to the East.
However, Wandering Fables found that this belief was baseless.
When Kumar traced the migration of the fables, he discovered that
Cinderella was originally a Chinese story, and Aesop Fables
was culled from the Buddhist Jataka Tales.
He also found that Rudyard Kipling assimilated stories from the
ancient Indian tales of Katha Sagar, and wrote the Jungle
Book. Wandering Fables found that most fables actually
traveled from India to Persia, Egypt, Spain and then into Europe.
