BANGALORE: Mobily, the telecommunication arm of Etihad Etisalat Co of Saudi Arabia is entrying into India by induction of their wholly owned subsidiary, Mobily InfoTech India Pvt. Ltd.

This is the company's first subsidiary outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Indian arm will help in providing IT solutions and consulting services for the parent company.

"The subsidiary specialising in providing IT services will extend the capabilities of the current Information Technology division," said Mobily CEO and managing director Khalid Alkaf.

Alkaf says also that Mobily InfoTech will add more skilled manpower to Mobily's IT division and allow the company to handle much tighter IT project deadlines needed.

"Not only do we have more skills on board with Mobily InfoTech in India, but with the difference in time zones, we can now work round the clock to provide better services to our customer. This investment will provide savings of more than 30 per cent in the services that will be provided by the offshore unit. We have already seen savings of 20 per cent-plus during the first year of operations." he added.

In Saudi Arabia, Mobily provides GSM, 3 and 3.5G voice, data, and multimedia streaming services with speeds of up to 7.2 mbps.

The GSM World Association awarded Mobily as the fastest growing mobile operator in the Middle East and North Africa region.

The same association also awarded Mobily as the operator with the highest number of 3G subscribers in the Middle East and Africa region.
