MUMBAI:
Neo Sports chief executive Shashi Kalathil has put in his
papers and will make an exit from the company at the end of
February.
The
confirmation of Kalathil's exit follows Tuesday's announcement
that Nimbus Sport International CEO Digvijay Singh had been
elevated to the position of chief executive at parent company
Nimbus Communications.
Confirming
his exit Kalathil said, "I joined Neo Sports as a friend
of the Nimbus family in which capacity I will continue to
interact with the Neo team. I have thoroughly enjoyed the
excitement of sports broadcasting and believe that Neo Sports
has both the management and assets to be a Pan-Asian leader
in the sector."
Neo
Sports chairman Harish Thawani said, "Shashi will be
leaving to pursue interests outside the Group and will be
remembered by us fondly for his valued contribution to the
growth of the business as well as the integrity and intellectual
bandwidth he possesses."
Thawani
will be taking over hands on charge of Neo till a replacement
for Kalathil has been identified.
As
far as where Kalathil is headed is concerned, the only information
available to Indiantelevision.com at the time of filing this
report was that he would not be in media.
During
Kalathil's tenure, Neo Sports has grown to be a broadcast
business clocking revenues well over Rs 3 billion in its first
full year of operations, broadcasting on 7 major platforms
and thousands of cable networks across 30 countries from the
Middle East in the West to Japan in the East.
