B.A.G Films Q3 net profit up 48 % at Rs 19 million

MUMBAI: B.A.G Films and Media has posted a net profit of Rs 18.76 million for the quarter ended 31 December 2007, a jump of 48 per cent from the corresponding quarter last fiscal.

During the period, the company's net income stood at Rs 130.08 million, up 20 per cent as compared to the corresponding quarter last fiscal.

B.A.G Films and Media MD Anurradha Prasad said, ""Our performance in the quarter ended 31 December 2007 has been quite satisfactory. New programming and strong emphasis on cost-control measures have yielded higher top line and bottom line, respectively. Going forward, we are confident of continuing to achieve healthy revenue and profitability growth."

B.A.G Films has forayed into broadcasting segment by launching its first national Hindi News channel News 24 on 13 December, through its group company B.A.G Newsline Network (P) Limited. Within the next quarter, the company is launching its second channel called E-24 through its subsidiary B.A.G Glamour (P) Limited.

In its FM radio business, which operates under the brand name Radio Dhamaal, the company has launched six stations and will launch four more to complete 10 FM stations in India.

This quarter, B.A.G Films has launched two daily soaps titled Ek Thi Rajkumari on Zee Next and Dahhej on 9X.

The company has also bagged two daily soaps - one for Sony and the other for Star Plus - for which the production has already commenced.

On its regional programming front, B.A.G Films has started a game show titled Yaariguntu Yaarigilla on Zee Kannada channel.
