MUMBAI:
After
launching a mixture of shows and filling up most of their
prime-time slots, Sab is now gearing up for a new reality
show for the Friday prime-time slot.
The
new show Acting Ki Funshala will start its innings
from 1 February at 8 pm and will be aired once a week on Friday.
The
show is an attempt to search for a pair of comic actors whose
humour and wit mathes that of a professional comedian.
Conceptualised
by Miditech and hosted by Anu Kapoor, the show is in the format
of an acting school where 10 aspirants, selected from different
parts of India, will undertake a series of hilarious tasks.
Announcing
the launch, Sab business head Anooj Kapoor said, "Acting
Ki Funshala will tickle the funny bone as the contestants
are ordinary people without any acting experience."
For
13 weeks, the contestants will learn the nuances of comedy
acting from celebrity judges and the faculty of Acting
Ki Funshala. Living in the same house, contestants will
be under scrutiny 24 hours through cameras.
On
being queried whether the show draws on Zee's Cinestar
Ki Khoj, Kapoor replied, "The show on Zee groomed
the participants for acting and none of them were under scrutiny,
whereas our show will train all amateurs for comedy specifically."
The
winning pair will get to star in a movie that will telecast
on Sab. The channel has roped in Vodafone as presenting partner.
