MUMBAI: Genie in the House, the Moi j'aime la télévision/Helion Pictures live action comedy series for Nickelodeon UK and French broadcaster Canal J, has been acquired by France 3.

The French terrestrial broadcaster has acquired both series one and two - a total of 52 episodes.

The hit live action series will now be available at the television trade event MipTV 2008 through AB Distribution that holds worldwide rights to the show. Worldwide DVD rights are available through Anglo-French distributor Happy Audience. MipTV takes place in April in Cannes, France.

Genie in the House has also secured broadcast deals worldwide including RTBF in Belgium; SIC in Portugal; Antena 3 in Spain; MNet in Africa; CTC Network for Russia, and CIS for Italy, Australia, New Zealand and Asia. The half-hour comedy series for a family audience series has now sold into more than 80 territories worldwide, and since Mipcom last year, AB has already secured several new deals including Italia Film for the Middle East, RTM for Morocco, Kanal1 for Turkey and BNT for Bulgaria.

Created by Phil Ox, Isabelle Dubernet, Eric Fuhrer and Steven Bawol, the show combines the talents of French producer Ox from Moi j'aime la télévison and US producer Bawol from Helion Pictures. Made for the international market, the team-written series has the feel and production values of an American sitcom and is loaded with special effects.

When Sophie and Emma move into their new house with their widower father Phillip, they expect a quiet, boring life. But searching in the attic, they find an old lamp, and when Emma rubs it with a piece of cloth to clean it, they receive the surprise of their lives… In a show of sparks, Adil, a teenage genie, appears!
