MUMBAI: TV content distributor Granada International (GI) has acquired the worldwide distribution rights (excluding UK DVD) to the new children’s series Captain Mack produced by Fireback Entertainment.

The series, which was commissioned by CITV, will be launched by Granada International at the television trade event MIPTV which takes place in April in Cannes, France.

Granada International director of acquisitions and co-productions Emmanuelle Namiech says, “We are always looking for fresh and engaging new programmes for young viewers and Captain Mack certainly fits the bill – it is different and quirky with huge charm. We’re certain that it will be a hit with international kids buyers down in Cannes. We’re also very excited to be working with John Bullivant and his team at Fireback.”

Fireback Entertainment joint MD John Bullivant says, “We saw a clear gap in the market for a rocket-riding, action hero for children aged 3-6 and a chance to offer youngsters an exciting champion who ‘saves the day’ without the need for bad guys or violence. That’s what Captain Mack delivers. We are delighted to have Granada International, one of the key distributors of kids’ programming, on board to launch the show to the global market in April.”

Young children finally have their very own superhero in Captain Mack. The show combines live action with animation. "Young viewers aged 3 to 6 years will delight in Captain Mack’s energetic approach to life, his kind and caring nature, his sense of humour and of course his super-fast Sky Rockets! Captain Mack’s world is truly spectacular, full of bright colours, larger-than-life characters and a generous sprinkling of CGI effects," a release said.

Captain Mack is always on the lookout for danger, anytime, anyplace, anywhere! And Sunshine City is where he’s going to find it, thanks to naughty characters such as Tracy Trickster, Grabby Crabby and Marty Meddler. There are plenty of good guys too - which is just as well because even experienced superheroes like Captain Mack sometimes need a helping hand.
