MUMBAI: Componex Nepcon India (CNI) 2008, the components exhibition, will kick off on 20 February at Pragati Maidan in Delhi.

The three-day exhibition will showcase the best of the innovations in the technology worldwide, bringing 26 countries on one platform.

Componex Nepcon is the amalgamation of Componex and Nepcon series. It is a trade show for the electronic industry in India and has been serving the industry for over 13 years while the Nepcon exhibition is an annual exhibition catering to needs of the electronics market worldwide. Nepcon has put its mark in China, the UK, Malaysia, Korea, Thailand and Japan. With the recent acquisition by Reed Exhibitions India, the Componex fair has now been launched as CNI 2008.

Last year, the event witnessed 25,000 visitors and 826 exhibitors from 25 countries. The magnitude of the exhibitions this year is expected to be bigger than that of the previous year.

Associations like Telecom Equipment Manufactures' Associations (TEMA), Consumer Electronics and TV Manufactures Association (CETMA), All India Instruments Manufactures Association (IMDA) have been closely associated with CNI 2008.

Reed Exhibitions chairman Mike Rusbridge said, "Indian B2B exhibitions have a long way to go compared to evolved markets of Europe and USA. There is a need to increase marketing sophistication and organising standards for shows in India to ensure that exhibitions fall high on marketing plans of marketers. The key is in delivering quality visitors."

Reed Exhibitions India COO Mandeep Singh added, "CNI is the only platform where buyers and sellers from the components industry can get together nationally and internationally to showcase their latest technology."

The renaissance of the Indian components industry took place in the early 1990s and since then the industry has grown manifolds. It is currently worth $10 billion, but according to estimates, has the potential to reach $40 billion by 2010.
