MUMBAI: Deltatre has launched a new and improved site for the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), IAAF.org.

The new site has been designed and developed by deltatre in-house team of specialists after being awarded the contract for the development, maintenance and evolution of the IAAF website in 2007.

The site has a new structure and design, better navigation and additional content.

Following the introduction of the new look IAAF Home Page which, along with the Osaka World Championships competition website, came on-line on 2 August 2007, over the course of the last week an entirely new site map was implemented for the IAAF Website.

In essence for the last six months since the new Home Page was unveiled, http://www.iaaf.org/ has been operating as two sites, a bright new look but which frustratingly was only one click away from the old style site and structure.

Following on from the successful launch of the championship site for the 11th World Championships in Athletics in August 2007 (osaka2007.iaaf.org), the revamped IAAF.org site includes many new features and an improved navigation.

The main features of the new iaaf.org include:

- enhanced multimedia content (including free video highlights and podcasts)
- event coverage of the World Athletics Series including live radio, blogging and results
- a fantasy athletics game spanning the season based on the successful game launched for the Osaka World Championships
- a new athletes section giving easier access to athletes’ statistical and biographical information
- a full site search facility

The contract between IAAF and deltatre, spans the period 2007-2009, and includes the next World Championships in Berlin.

IAAF president Lamine Diack says, “The unveiling of the IAAF Website’s new structure is another important step in the on-going redevelopment of http://www.iaaf.org/ which is taking place with the technical and design assistance of Deltatre.

"We are keen to support such advances in our internet presence, which are essential if the IAAF is to keep fully abreast with the changes to the worldwide web, and to better communicate its message to the sport’s athletes, officials, media and fans.”

Further strengthening the relationship between deltatre and the IAAF, deltatre has also been awarded the contract for the maintenance and evolution of the IAAF e-services system.

The e-services system, developed by deltatre between 1998 and 2006, is used to manage the IAAF business activities and includes intranet sites, the main historical database and the
IAAF Family Extranet providing online resources to the IAAF council, IAAF members, committees and commissions.

Deltatre CEO Giampiero Rinaudo says, "We are extremely happy to extend our close and long-term relationship with the IAAF as their main IT partner. We are grateful to the IAAF for the confidence they have shown us over the last 20 years.

"Athletics has always been a showcase of our technologies and we look forward to working together with the IAAF to apply many more innovative solutions to both the websites and e-services system."

Deltatre works in the sports technology industry providing IT services to sports federations. Deltatre manages the Fifa World Cup, UEFA Champions League, European Football Championships, Rugby World Cup and the IAAF World Championships.
