NEW DELHI: UTV World Movies, screening world cinema, is set to launch its new initiative, 50 Movies To See Before You Die, with an aim to showcase films that are handpicked by directors and actors.

As a part of the initiative, that begins from 22 August at 11 pm, directors like M Night Shyamalan, Mahesh Bhatt, Anurag Kashyap and Tanuja Chandra will choose their favourite movies and explain why they feel movie fans should not not miss these movies.

The year-long property will be hosted by actress Koel Purie.

UTV Entertainment Television COO Dilshad Master said, "With 50 Movies To See Before You Die, not only will viewers get to watch 50 of the greatest movies of all time, they will also get to see iconic personalities from the film industry telling them what makes these movies great. With this property, we are further strengthening our differentiator, that the world's greatest movies are on UTV World Movies."

Said Purie, "I'm delighted to be associated with 50 Movies To See Before You Die on UTV World Movies. Both as an actress and a movie fan, I find it exciting to experience these movies - because they are masterpieces chosen by the masters."

Meanwhile, World Movies will air highlights of the Toronto Film Festival in September 2008 and the Berlin Film Festival in February 2009. The channel is happy with its first quarter results for this year. “Our results have been more than satisfactory," says UTV Entertainment Television COO Dilshad Master.
