Second season of Comedy Honors to kick off on 27 April

MUMBAI: Star Gold has announced the second season of Vodafone Comedy Honors 2008, an initiative to honour the stars and films that have made laughter a part of life.

With comedy movies, anecdotes and comic scenes, the second season of Vodafone Comedy Honors will kick off with a special curtain raiser hosted by Swapnil Joshi on 27 April at 1 pm on Star Gold.

To promote its event, Star Gold has weaved a special programming for the entire month.

Starting 5 May, the channel will air comedy movies daily at 8:30 pm. The festival, called Comedy Honors Movie Mela, includes films like Chup Chup Ke, Bhaagam Bhag, Dulhe Raja, Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, Bheja Fry, Malaamal Weekly, No Entry, Deewana Mastana, Biwi No 1, Aankhiyon Se Goli Maare and Hulchul.

Additionally, there will be caricatures of comic characters popping on the screen in between and giving one liners and jokes or enacting funny lines from the movies.

From 3 May, every Saturday and Sunday viewers will also get to enjoy a one hour special of 101 comedy scenes from the everlasting comedy movies.

Prior to the finale of Vodafone Comedy Honors 2008, Star Gold will be airing Hasi Ka Haftaa, a series of blockbuster movies throughout the day from 26–30 May.

The entire event will culminate with the award ceremony, Vodafone Comedy Honors 2008.

The awards will be hosted by Javed Jaffery. Comedy Honors will also include a special advisory panel comprising of filmmakers like Satish Kaushik, Nagesh Kukunoor and Vashu Bhagnani along with Star Gold who will hand pick the honorees in each category.

Awards will be given away in the following categories:

  • Honor for lifetime achievement award
  • Performer with all round comic excellence
  • Actor with comic excellence
  • Actress with comic excellence
  • Director with comic excellence
  • Rising actor with comic excellence
  • Hrishikesh Mukherjee socially relevant comedy film

Star India VP marketing and communications Prem kamath said, "Creating an exciting line up of programming consistently, Star Gold has pioneered a number of innovative properties for its loyal viewers. One such big initiative for us was the launch of Comedy Honors last year and with the overwhelming response from our audiences we are launching thesecond season of the same property."
