NEW DELHI: The Government will hold meetings
with stakeholders on the television ratings
point (TRP) system or other systems only
after receiving a report from the Telecom
Regulatory Authority of India (Trai).
Information
and Broadcasting minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi
told Parliament today that Trai has been
asked to formulate its recommendations on
the rating point systems for TV viewership.
The
sector regulator is given the task of formulating
policy guidelines for Tam/TRP so as to bring
greater transparency.
There is no proposal to call the meeting of
different stakeholders on the issue before
finalizing the new TRP system, the minister
said.
