MUMBAI: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has given 23 April as the last extension to those stakeholders who wish to comment on the consultation paper on restructuring of the cable TV services.

A senior Trai official told indiantelevision.com that so far only some 10-odd stakeholders have submitted their responses to the regulator's consultation paper on the subject. The respondents are a mixed lot of broadcasters as well as MSOs (multi-system operators) and cable operators.

"We have received requests from stakeholders to extend the last date and since we wish to have as many responses as possible, in favour of the widest possible consultation, we have given this extension, but this is the last date," the official said.

Trai had released consultation paper on "Restructuring of Cable TV Services" on 4 March.

Written comments of stakeholders on this consultation paper were required to be submitted by 2 April.

This last date was extended up to 15 April on request of some stakeholders.

"Again some stakeholders have requested for further extension of time for sending their comments," the Trai official said.

In view of this, Trai has decided to extend the date for submission of written comments of all stakeholders up to 23 April.

"Stakeholders may submit their comments before this date as no further extension will be allowed," an official press release from Trai says.
