MUMBAI: US-based Stratacache will soon set shop in India. To support its Asia-Pacific digital media initiatives, the company will open its first branch in Mumbai.

Stratacache already has digital cinema, digital signage and content distribution projects in India.

Stratacache's digital signage solution, ActiVia for media, and digital cinema distribution software, OmniCast for digital cinema, both address the growing digital media distribution market in this region.

To spearhead business in India, the company has appointed Ramkumar Ramamurty as digital media business development manager for the region.

In this role, Ramamurty will work closely with the company's digital media team in the United States.

Ramamurty has worked on digital cinema projects, designing networks and conducting proof-of-concepts for end-to-end content flow of DCPs, including both MPEG-2 and JPEG2K files.

"Digital cinema package (DCP) distribution over satellite and terrestrial networks is at a transformational stage. Movie distributors and theatres expect a reliable, bandwidth-efficient means of distributing movies. Our investments in people and technology demonstrate our resolve to deliver a more efficient means of DCP distribution," said Stratacache International VP Filip Vandenbusshe.
