MUMBAI: Subhash Ghai promoted Mukta Arts has pocketed Rs 3 crore by selling the remake rights of Karz to music supremo T-series. The blockbuster Karz released in 1980 has been a big grosser for the company.

However, Mukta Arts has retained the packaging rights of the cassettes, CDs and DVDs of the remake of Karz, says Mukta Arts CEO Ravi Gupta.

The T-series produced remake of Karz will be directed by Satish Kaushik and have singer turned actor Himesh Reshammiya enacting the role Rishi Kapoor played in Ghai's original. Tina Munim and Simi Garewal were the other two leads in the original.

Urmila Matondkar will be in the role of Simi Garewal in Kaushik's remake.
