MUMBAI:
UTV Group CEO Ronnie Screwvala has been re-elected as president
of the Film and Television Producers Guild of India.
Manmohan
Shetty and Ravi Chopra were elected vice-presidents and Manish
Goswami and Sushilkumar Agrawal were chosen as treasurers.
Filmmakers
Bobby Bedi and Raj Tilak were elected vice presidents in a
meeting of the Guild's management council.
The
meeting was held immediately after the conclusion of the 53rd
Annual General Meeting of the Guild.
Earlier,
Screwvala presented a report of the activities undertaken
by the Guild during the course of the year. He briefed the
members about the Guilds interaction with the government
on several issues having grave repercussions such as VAT,
stamp duty and pending broadcast regulations.
Established
in 1954 by the stalwarts of the Indian film industry, the
guild boasts of studio owners like Yash Chopra, Subhash Ghai;
companies like UTV, Nimbus, Zee, Sahara, and Adlabs; leading
TV production houses like Star, Sony, TV Today, NDTV, Network
18, and B.A.G Films and younger avant garde filmmakers like
Ashutosh Gowariker, Karan Johar, Farhan Akhtar, Rohan Sippy.
