Says
Star India senior VP - head of mobile entertainment
Viren Popli, "The Plus application
will be pre-loaded on Sony Ericsson's Walkman
and Cyber-shot handsets. Specially created
video clips lasting from 1-2 minutes will
be available for users."
Star
India is digitising its content through
several agencies, some of which are Tangerine
Digital, OnMobile, IMImobile. The motive
is to take it to multiple platforms.
"Plus
is already available on telecom services
like Hutch, Idea, BSNL, Spice, MTNL. Our
current subscriber base is about 40,000
users," says Popli. Star hopes that
the deal will help increase the numbers
further, by bringing in new subscribers.
Additionally,
since Plus is still available on other handsets,
Star and Sony Ericcson are trying to sweeten
the deal for purchasers by pre-loading exclusively
created mobile video clips on the phones.
Users will also have access to a "Sony
Ericsson zone" on the Plus application.
