MUMBAI: Shortly after Mattel was forced to pull several toys off the shelves due to lead content in its painted products, now Walt Disney is looking to conduct a series of tests to ensure the safety of its products.

Disney will scrutinize toys of its popular characters to check for lead as well as the possibility of other hazardous items in its ingredients. The company will not only inspect products made in China, but also in other countries.

As part of Mattel's recall process, more than 4,00,000 toy vehicles from the animated Disney/Pixar film Cars were also recalled.

In a wave of tests being conducted by toy manufactures, even Toys "R" Us will run their own independent checks for lead content.
