MUMBAI:
Granada International will be taking a range of titles to
the American Film Market next month.
Appealing to international DVD licensees around the world,
Granada Internationals catalogue includes classic Oscar
winning features now digitally restored in High Definition
and drama filled Hollywood TV movies.
The
Fabulous Baker Boys is now available in digitally remastered
High Definition, and stars Michelle Pfeiffer (Dangerous
Liaisons) and real-life brothers Jeff (Seabiscuit)
and Beau Bridges (Stargate SG-1).
The
film is a salute to music, friendship, family and following
your dreams, as a brotherly duo of lounge piano players hire
singer Susie Diamond (Pfeiffer) to liven up their act, but
find that tensions mount as romance blossoms and one brother
is left in the cold.
To
mark British filmmaker Sir David Leans centenary in
2008, Granada International has re-mastered his classic film
Brief Encounter in High Definition with full digital
restoration, as part of a project funded by the David Lean
Foundation in collaboration with the BFI (British Film Institute).
The film is a love story, starring Trevor Howard, Celia Johnson
and Stanley Holloway.
Based
on a Shakespeare play Henry V, it was made to boost
the morale of British troops during World War Two. Laurence
Olivier was Oscar nominated for his performance as King Henry
V.
Granada
International has remastered this film from original 35mm
film to the latest High Definition format with full digital
restoration to mark the centenary of Oliviers birth.
Other
movies it will present include the anti-war classic All
Quiet on the Western Front. This tells the story about
a generation of young men destroyed by the First World War.
Daniel
Day-Lewis won an Oscar for My Left Foot the true-life
story of Christy Brown a cerebral palsy victim with his left
foot the only appendage over which he has complete control.
Fried
Green Tomatoes At The Whistle Stop Café is about
the importance of friendship, starring two Oscar winning actresses
Kathy Bates and Jessica Tandy.
Featuring
screen legends Katharine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart, The
African Queen is widely seen as a cinematic legend. Bogarts
role as the hard-drinking river trader won him an Oscar.
To
celebrate next years 50th anniversary of the cult Carry
On comedy films, Granada International will present Carry
On Camping.
