Balaji Telefilms Q2 net up 36% to Rs 262 million

MUMBAI: Balaji Telefilms' net profit has jumped 36.17 per cent to Rs 262.76 million for the quarter ended 30 September 2007, up from Rs 192.97 million a year ago.

Total Income, however, has gone up marginally to Rs 843.74 million, from Rs 837.95 million during this period.

Profit before tax was up from Rs 286.89 million to Rs 364.02 million, an increase of 26.89 per cent on last quarter.

Income from operations increased from Rs 745.32 million to Rs 779.48 million, an increase of 4.58 per cent on last quarter.

The realization per hour from commissioned programming increased from Rs 3.35 million to Rs 3.79 million, an increase of 13.13 per cent, contributing mainly to the jump in profits.

Balaji produced 319 hours of total programming during the second quarter of the fiscal.

The company’s investments, as on 30 September 2007, were at Rs 2.34 billion, including Rs 181.85 million invested in subsidiaries.
