MUMBAI:
Seminars and conferences addressing topics like distribution,
budgeting, finance, locations, fair use, production incentives,
digital distribution, film adaptation and mobile will comprise
the 2007 American Film Market (AFM) seminars and conferences
programme.
16
sessions featuring executives, filmmakers, producers, distributors,
financers and talent from the global entertainment business
will be held during AFM in Santa Monica from 1 to 6 November
2007.
Session
highlights include AFMs inaugural seminar US Theatrical
Distribution: The Producers Holy Grail; the AFM
Finance Conference, Pitch Me!, Creative Production
Incentives: Maximising Benefits, Minimizing Problems,
and Keeping Writers Onboard: The Business Case.
On
6 November, four panels programmed by iHollywood Forum will
take place at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel. In addition to the
Independent Film & Television Alliance (IFTA), other 2007
AFM sessions are being programmed by such major industry organisations
as the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, SAGIndie,
the American Society of cinematographers, Film Independent,
Writers Guild of America, West, the Directors Guild of America
and Women in Film.
The
theatrical distribution session is being programmed by: British
Academy of Film and Television Arts. Attendees will find out
about the trade secrets of successful producers/filmmakers,
acquisition/studio executives, producers representatives
and distribution consultants in their quest for those elusive
strategies of cost effective domestic theatrical distribution.
The
panelists are Phil Alberstat who wrote the book The Insiders
Guide to Film Finance, Lionsgate president of acquisitions
and co-productions Peter Block, marketing and distributing
consultant Seth Willenson and Daniel Myrick who co-wrote and
directed The Blair Witch Project.
