MUMBAI: Jungle Book, the iconic animation movie, is celebrating 40 years. The landmark is being celebrated in India by Excel Home Video with a 40th year Anniversary Edition DVD with multiple language options and scores of extra features.

The DVD can be viewed in both Hindi and English available for the first time simultaneously on the movie. The DVD print of the movie has been digitally restored by animation and computer experts who have worked on each frame from the original camera negative.

Excel Home Videos MD MN Kapasi says, "Since the Jungle Book was shot using ‘successive exposure’ method, there were around 337,000 frames that is nearly four miles of film strips!"

The extra features on the DVD include three Games featuring the characters of the film and one called DisneyPedia: Junglemania which also educates children with information on the habitats and lifestyles of the various animals found in the Asian jungles.

The DVD also contains music videos sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and performed by Dhoom Machao Dhoom girls besides many others including American pop rock band, Jonas Brothers.

The DVD also features certain characters who didn't feature in the original movie and also seven deleted songs apart from songs like Bare Necessities and I wanna be like you which have won several awards and accolades.

The DVD contains the interviews of present day animators (creators of The Lion King, Tarzan, and Aladdin) who credit Jungle Book to be their inspiration in luring them to the world of animation.

The movie follows the adventures of a boy named Mowgli, as he makes his way back to the man village with Bagheera, the wise panther in order to be safe from Sher Khan, the tiger. Along the way he meets jazzy King Louie, the hypnotic snake Kaa and the care free bear, Baloo who teaches him the true meaning of friendship.

Adapted from Rudyard Kipling’s Novel of the same name, the animation movie which released on 18 October 1967 went on to become the epitome of Disney character animation. The movie was the last offering of Walt Disney and it went on to inspire a whole generation of animators.
