Networks - Asia GM Ricky Ow says, "Animax
enjoys great distribution in both Hong Kong
and Taiwan and this expansion to mobile not
only builds on the brand loyalty of Animax,
it gives users an additional source in which
they can enjoy their favourite anime series,
whenever they want, wherever they want."
SPTI
director, mobile entertainment
Asia Pacific Rosemary Tan says, "We
are thrilled to partner with SmarTone Vodafone
to bring some of Animax's most exciting
programs to mobile users in Hong Kong and
Taiwan. Not only is this an extension of
the Animax brand, but it represents a valuable
stand-alone service for 3G mobile subscribers
everywhere."
Designed
with the youth market in mind and specifically
targeting the 15-35 demographic, Animax
Mobile will serve up four popular Japanese
anime series in its English dubbed versions
at launch for mobile users to enjoy. Titles
include the award-winning Gankutsuou:
The Count of Monte Cristo, which was
named the Best Animation in the TV category
at the Tokyo Anime Award 2005, as well as
fan-favourites such as the action-packed
series Blood+, R.O.D. the
TV and Last Exile.
In addition to the normal full-length episodes
which will be shown in a two-hour loop,
users can also enjoy the anime in bite-sized
versions, in short clips of five to seven
minutes. This is perfect for users who want
"snack TV", as these short segments
are tailor-made for busy users who still
wish to watch the animation at their own
time and convenience.

in early November in Taiwan which will have
Chinese sub-titles.
