MUMBAI: The IBE Expo and Conference 2007 kicks off on 25 October in Goregaon, a western suburb of Mumbai.

 

The broadcast technology convention, taking place till 27 October, will tackle convergence issues head-on. The organisers note that across India there are dramatic changes taking place in television, radio and new media.

IBE 2007 is created and supported by IABM, which represents broadcast and media technology suppliers worldwide. Also supporting the event is the Indian Media Group (IMG) and broadcast journal Studio Systems.

 

On the first day there will be sessions on sports broadcasting and the Commonwealth Games. The speakers are Zee Sports CEO Himanshu Modi, Neo Sports head engineering operations Yogit Bindlish and IMG president Balu Nayar. Orad will make a presentation on sports production. The company offers virtual sets for TV news, weather, entertainment, sports shows that integrate live presenters and actors with 3D, computer-generated animation.

On 26 October the focus will be on the delivery platforms - cable, DTH and IPTV. There will be a session dedicated to IPTV. The speakers are IOL Broadband executive director AS Oberoi, Time Broadband Services CEO and MD Sujata Dev, MTNL GM broadband Peeyush Agarwal, IOL Broadband MD Vinayak Hadkar and Seachange MD Vishwajeet Deshmukh.

Another key session will examine how Cas and DTH have pentrated the market so far. The panellists are Incablenet VP Anil Malhotra, Cable Operators Federation of India president
Roop Sharma, Videocon.Group DTH head Hitesh Sabarwal, DEN CEO cable distribution segment Anuj Gandhi.

On the third day HDTV will take centrestage. The speakers are Zee TV technical head Amitabh Srivastav, Visual Technologies India's Mehta, Benchmark Micro Systems' Ashish Mukherjee, Cinecita Comoptronics' Milan Gandhi, Doordarshan's Jain, and Agiv India SC Oberoi.

Another session will look at digital cinema. The panellists are Real Image director Senthil Kumar, UFO Moviez founder and executive director Sanjay Gaikwad, Texas Instruments India business development manager Ganesh S and Cinemeta Entertainment CEO Raj Grover.
