MUMBAI: Cartoon Network Enterprises has now stepped into a Bollywood movie merchandise with the launch of a toy called Bucchki.

The toy has been infused in the script of BR Chopra Films' Bhootnath wherein the characters are shown playing with the toy. The movie will hit the big screens in January 2008.

Bucchki is a toy with circular disc with projections and five screws, which is attached to strings on both sides with rings at the end for a good grip.

CNE is also the sole licensee and merchandise agent for Bhootnath.

Speaking on the association CNE executive director India and South Asia Jiggy George said, "Bollywood and Cricket are the two things that kids fantasize about. Hence we were exploring the Bollywood space since long.
Movie merchandisng is difficult due to short product lifecycles. We have, thus, launched Bucchki long before the release so that there is an uplifting hook up for both and the movie and the toy."

CNE has tied up with Cybershop Marketing Pvt Ltd for distribution of the toys. Priced at Rs 149, Bucchki will be available at more than 800 centers across 40 cities including all Future Group stores, Lifestyle, Shopper Stop, Gini and Jony, Liliput, Freedom Stores and many more.

The commercials featuring the protagonists of the film Jojo and Bunko playing with Bucchki has already hit the channels.

"With the festive season at peak, we will be revealing a lot more products in the coming months which will provide a better connect with the film," George said.
