MUMBAI: NDS has announced the launch of its solution VideoGuard Express for the Indian cable TV market.

The system which delivers conditional access security at a competitive price, has been pre integrated with a set-top box (STB) and electronic programme guide.

It was last year that NDS set up an office in Mumbai to tap into the local market. It had established a research and development facility in Bangalore way back in 2000.

NDS Asia Pacific VP, GM Sue Taylor says, "NDS VideoGuard Express is the right solution at the right time. Many cable operators across India are looking for a Cas solution they can implement now to support their pay TV business and comply with government regulations to support Cas. VideoGuard gives a low cost solution and an upgrade path to operators to implement new features and services in the future."

NDS India GM Kishore Shirekar says, " NDS continues to increase its commitment to the Indian market. The company has over 750 staff in India and more than 700 are in technical and development positions. In addition to world clas technology NDS is uniquely able to provide complete local support as Indian cable operators deploy Cas and fast track digital development across the country."

VideoGuard Express builds on the company's Cas technology for pay TV. The company adds that the product is deployed in more than 75 million STBs globally. It will have a presence at the Scat tradeshow, which takes place in Mumbai from 25-27 October 2007.

The product offers fast channel change time. The system incorporates an upgrade path to implement MediaHighway middleware which will enable pay TV and interactive services including EPG, call center based pay per view and NVoD.
