MUMBAI: Government owned telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has started its 'TV in mobile handset' service.

This will enable BSNL's GSM users to watch select TV channels like NDTV, CNBC, Aaj Tak, Times Now, Zoom, Bindass, ETV, TV9 on their mobile phones.

Initially, the service will be available only on Nokia handsets and gradually it will be extended to Sony Ericsson and Motorola handsets soon.

The service will soon be extended all over India once the required infrastructure is up in place and the deals with the different television companies and handset manufacturers are over. Initially, the service will be available free of cost for 30 days but subsequently with a monthly rental.

BSNL has partnered with Apalya Technologies which will provide content (TV signals) made available on BSNL GSM handsets.

To view TV content on their handsets, BSNL GSM customers will have to visit mimobi.tv via their phones.
