Tata and Orion Ross (Centre) along with the cast
of Cambala Investigation Agency (CIA) ,Ben 10
and M.A.D announcing a slew of new original productions. |
Added
Ross, "Entertaining kids is our business and
we are passionate about it. As the industry leader
and the number one choice of Indian kids, we are committed
to providing them content that is age appropriate,
funny, and fresh as well as stimulating. Our earlier
innovative original productions such as an arts show
(MAD), the first dedicated kids' awards (POGO Amazing
Kids' Awards) and a revolutionary pre-school series
(Galli Galli Sim Sim) to name a few have already made
their mark. I am hopeful that kids will enjoy these
new shows as much as we enjoyed making them - for
them."
Turner
has already produced over 26 animated original series
in its international studios. "Our original productions
in India have been growing from strength to strength
from 50 hours in 2004, to over 150 hours of original
productions in 2007," said Tata.
She further added that Pogo had more original shows
on air in India than anywhere it operates in globally.
Tata
explained that research shows Pogo has the strongest
presence in the kid's space in Tamil Nadu and Andhra
Pradesh, and if the need arose, they would stretch
out to other areas like the east and northeast.
"We
are very strong on research and we may think of extending
to these areas if the research says there is a need,"
she said.
Among
the seven new programmes launched, Ben 10 will be
on Cartoon Network. Airing at 6 pm every Wednesday-Friday,
it is the story line of 10-year-old Ben suddenly receiving
a gizmo that he can use to assume the persona of 10
different kids' super heroes, and the programme is
in four languages: English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
The show's title track in Hindi has been sung by Sunidhi
Chauhan.
Cartoon
Network's other original production, Skatoony, will
air on Sunday at 9:30 am. Skatoony is an entertainment
quiz series, where children compete against cartoons
for real prizes. It's a fuses live action and animation.
The show is being adapted for Cartoon Network by Miditech.
Pogo will air Cambala Investigation Agency. The show
is being produced by Contiloe Films and will premiere
on 29 October at 7 pm.
Cambala
Investigation Agency is placed in an imaginary location
somewhere in the Western coast of India. It
seems to be a series on the familiar theme of Enid
Blyton's The Famous Five.
The
series will have five bright kids cracking down and
aiming to rid Cambala of crime, with each of the five
having "core skills", like one with mastery
in disguise, another in networking of informers, a
third with gizmo gifts, a girl with information accessing
expertise and finally, another girl, who can simply
distract anyone to death to get their job done.
"We
had been wanting to bring science in a manner that
MAD (Pogo's other hit programme, Music-Art-Dance)
has done: accessible, entertaining and interactive,
and finally we have done this," Ross said.
Also
on the cards on Pogo is a weekly, half-hour family
sit-com, original production called Sunaina.
The show revolves around the misadventures and crazy
lives of teenager Sunaina, her friends and her family.
The lead character has a gift the last dream
she has every morning before she gets up eventually
comes true, whether it is positive, negative or a
mystery. The show is produced by Tony and Deeya Singh's
DJ Creations.
The
next line up from the channel includes season five
of the award winning and successful arts show - MAD
(Music, Art and Dance) . Premiering on 21 October
on Sundays at 10:30 am, the show will introduce completely
new spins to art this season. The show is produced
by Miditech.
Also in line is the fourth year of Pogo Amazing Kids
Awards 2007. In addition to these six shows, in early
2008, the channel is also launching an interactive
science show called F.A.Q. (Frequently Asked Questions).
Siddharth Basu's, Synergy Adlabs will produce the
show for Pogo.
