Disney organizes Dandiya for hearing impaired kids

MUMBAI: Disney has joined hands with the Lions Club of Juhu, Mumbai to usher into the festive season of Navratri with a celebration of dance and music for 800 special children.

Through this initiative, Disney and Lions Club of Juhu aim to raise awareness of new opportunities available for the hearing impaired to lead near-perfect normal lives.

On Sunday evening, the kids swaying to the numbers belted out by the dandiya queen Phalguni Pathak.

Kids from 20 special schools for the hearing impaired, danced on the beats of dandiya music. The festivity was enhanced with the presence of Bollywood stars and celebrities who turned up to support these children.

"Digital technology and rehabilitation programs evolved over the years have provided convenient and affordable solutions to help the hearing impaired. Hearing impairment is no longer a handicap and with help of these hearing aids they can speak the language understandable by us, they can study in normal schools, acquire higher education. It is our duty to spread this awareness and ensure that more children across the country can benefit and enjoy this rhythm of life," said Lions Club of Juhu Mumbai president Dr Jayant Gandhi.

Prizes were handed over for the best dressed boy and girl, and for best group, couple and solo performances.
