Disney-ABC
International Television's new series slate includes
Private Practice, Samantha Who?, Dirty
Sexy Money and Reaper.
These
shows have been sold to Star World Asia, Seven Network
(Australia), TVNZ (New Zealand), 8TV (Malaysia), Studio
23 (Philippines), Fiji TV (Fiji) and MediacorpTV Channel
5 (Singapore).
Disney-ABC
International Television (Asia Pacific) VP sales Greg
Johnson says, "We're excited to be coming to ATF
with our strongest ever portfolio including some of
the best new and returning shows on US television. We
look forward to working with our key broadcasters in
the region to make these shows just as successful with
audiences in their local markets."
The
main protagonist of Dirty Sexy Money is Nick
George. His whole life has been lived in the shadow
of the Darling family, but as an adult he's leading
the perfect life as an idealistic lawyer, until his
father's suspicious death.
The
absurdly wealthy Darlings of New York have asked him
to take over his father's job as their personal lawyer,
but the money that will allow him the freedom to be
an altruistic do-gooder is only part of the picture.
That same money pulls him into the dubious doings of
the Darling clan. Power, privilege and family money
are a volatile cocktail.
Samantha
Who? is about a 30-year-old real estate lawyer who,
after becoming the victim of a hit-and-run accident,
develops amnesia and has to rediscover her life, her
relationships and herself.
The
company has also concluded an inaugural multi-year multi-genre
volume deal with Creative Programme (CPI), a subsidiary
of ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation, for current and
library series, current and library features, a daytime
talk show and ABC News programming. CPI recently launched
three new basic cable channels in the Philippines including
sports channel Balls, male channel Maxxx and female
channel Velvet.
The
agreement includes the talk show The View and
ABC News early morning programme Good Morning America
to telecast on CPI's newly launched basic cable channel,
Velvet. This is the first time that these shows have
been licensed in South East Asia. The View will
air live while Good Morning America will air
two hours after the US live telecast.
CPI
has also picked up Dirt, a live action series
executive produced by and starring Courteney Cox and
Three Moons Over Milford for the Velvet channel
in addition to feature films from Touchstone Pictures
and Miramax Films such as Seabiscuit and Miracle
for the Maxxx channel.
Johnson
says, "We are delighted to be starting this new
relationship with CPI and to be working with them to
bring U.S. content faster to audiences in Asia Pacific.
Not only are we committed to providing our clients with
some of the best shows on TV, we also look to enhance
the relationship that broadcasters and their audiences
have with our programs through earlier delivery."
CPI head Jose Ramon Olives said, "More than just
quantity, our vision is quality programming. This is
in line with our objective to consistently provide our
audience with compelling content choices. We are proud
of our partnership with Disney-ABC International Television-a
group with a legacy of providing the best shows on TV
and additional values to broadcasters like us and our
audience. Our relationship is based on a shared commitment
to give only the best."
In
The View women discuss everyday issues and share
their no-holds-barred opinions and engage in conversations.
ABC
News' Good Morning America is anchored by Diane
Sawyer and Robin Roberts - the only female co-anchor
duo in morning US television. The programme offers news,
information, interviews, in-depth reporting and weather.
