| MUMBAI:
The library of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Science - the Margaret
Herrick Library - has invited the screenplay of UTV's Life in a Metro to
be part of it's exhaustive script collection. Director Anurag Basu has written
the screenplay for the film. Acclaimed
films like Finding Nemo, Million Dollar Baby and The Passion
of the Christ have already got this honour. In 2003, the screenplay of Dharma
Productions' Kal Ho Na Ho was made part of the collection.
Interestingly,
although the film is not really a typical Bollywood big budget -featuring big
stars that have traditionally been acclaimed abroad, the Library invitation is
a reaffirmation of the importance of screenplay for a film. The
Margaret Herrick Library has a collection of more than 32,000 books; 1,800 periodical
titles; 60,000 screenplays; lobby cards, over 8 million photographs; over 300
manuscript and other special collections relating to prominent industry individuals,
studios and organizations; sheet music, music scores and sound recordings; production
and costume sketches; artifacts and oral histories. |
