DELHI: The total number of private FM radio stations has gone
up to 69, with 11 new channels getting commissioned during
April and May.
These
include five BIG FM channels (Adlabs Films Ltd) in Bareily, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati,
Jalandhar and Goa, two Radio Mirchi (Entertainment Network India Ltd.) channels
for Patna and Jalandhar, three Mantra FM (Puran Multimedia) channels for Bareily,
Karnal and Jalandhar, and MY FM (Synergy Media) Channel at Jalandhar. The
government received a sum of about Rs 75 million as annual fee from the private
FM radio broadcasters during the period. Information and broadcasting ministry
sources said a sum of Rs 72.8 million was earned as annual fee from those permitted
in April. The BIG FM in Goa was commissioned last week. These
sources told indiantelevision.com that letters of intent was issued to a total
of 245 stations in 29 cities, going up from only 21 in 12 cities in 2004.
During April,
permission was also granted to three companies to uplink their TV channels from
India. These are TG Angel Media Pvt. Ltd., Triveni Media Ltd., and Creative Channel
Advertising and Marketing Pvt. Ltd. |
