MUMBAI:
AETN All Asia Networks (AAAN), a joint venture of A&E
Television Networks and Astro All Asia Networks, will launch
The History Channel (THC) and Crime and Investigation Network
in South East Asia on 15 June.
The
channels will be launched in Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and
Thailand.
"We
are going to launch both brands in additional territories
in the region throughout the summer, and plan to deploy our
brands and programming via VoD, mobile, and broadband,"
says
A&E Television Networks senior VP international Sean Cohan.
THC
and Crime and Investigation Network will be carried on Astro
in Malaysia and Brunei. In Singapore, both channels will be
carried on StarHub. In Thailand, The History Channel will
be available on TrueVision. Additional distribution arrangements
will be announced in the coming months.
The two channels will be fully language-versioned in Bahasa
Malaysia and Bahasa Indonesia, and later in Thai and Chinese.
Program schedules for both The History Channel and Crime and
Investigation Network will feature local acquisitions and
local productions.
Louis Boswell will be the GM from July 2007.
Cohan adds, "We are very pleased to secure our first
distribution partners in Malaysia, Brunei, and Singapore for
The History Channel and Crime & Investigation Network.
Astro
head of content marketing Agnes Rozario said, "Our commitment
is to continue to provide the most dynamic and creative home
entertainment and education content in the region, creating
greater and wider specialized target content for our consumers
to choose from. We believe that the introduction of The History
Channel and Crime and Investigation Network will offer viewers
more choice as the service caters to an increasingly discerning
yet distinctive audience."
Crime
& Investigation Network focusses on real crime, people
and drama. It opens the door to crime labs, police archives
and courtrooms, providing a behind-the-scenes look at criminal
investigations, probing unexplained mysteries and examining
the lives of infamous murderers and villains.
While
police work to crack some of the world's most fascinating
crimes, viewers witness first-hand as law enforcement agencies
utilize old fashioned detective techniques and the latest
forensic investigation tools to solve cases - both new and
cold.
