Osian's, IOS acquire Delhi football club

MUMBAI: Osian's and Infinity Optimal Solutions (IOS) Sports and Leisure have come together in a strategic partnership to take over a Delhi football club - New Delhi Heroes which was established in 1939.

It is for the first time in the history of Indian football that a professional sports management agency has taken over the management of a football club. It is also the first ever corporate takeover of a football club in Delhi.

The takeover is the next step in developing the infrastructure of football in India through an amalgamation of art and culture for the football loving fans of the country.

Osian's founder and chairman Neville Tuli says, "This takeover is another step in our continuing process to develop the game in India. We want to make the club a pioneer in Indian football. Right from its management to training facilities available, every thing will be world class.

"We will conduct regular training camps under foreign coaches and build both a youth academy and a training centre to foster talent".

The aim of taking over New Delhi Heroes is to provide football fans in Delhi with a club that competes at the national and International level with the best clubs in the country and abroad.

IOS CEO Neerav Tomar said," We aim to sign on players who have represented the Indian team or have played in the National Football League (NFL) division 1 clubs. The coaching team will consist of top quality coaches and training staff. We want to work our way up to the top tier of the NFL, but we will be taking things one at a time."

Players who IOS is in talks with for New Delhi Heroes include Dipanker Banerjee, Shanta Singh, Mohommed Najeeb and Sujoy Dutta. Coaches IOS is in talks with include Nigerian Chima Okorie and Mohammed Habib.
